The series of activities of the ASEAN summit will be opened this morning by Yudhoyono. One of the agenda that being pushed is to make ASEAN as a community to improve the welfare of common citizens in the region.
According to the schedule, the President will open the ASEAN summit at 09.00 pm, Thursday (17/11/2011). The event was centered on Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali.
"For me, ASEAN is one community. We hope that ASEAN Community can be realized in 2015," Yudhoyono said in a statement on Ayodhya Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali, on Wednesday (11/16/2011).
As a community, then among its members there is the common vision required to resolve the issue. Because it is also possible in the event of conflict between them, as a matter of sovereign borders.
"Among fellow ASEAN, if it comes to anything, do not use violence," Yudhoyono warned that this year served as Chairman of ASEAN.
Political stability and security are prerequisites for investment and open up new business opportunities. When there is investment and trade, the domestic economic activity occurs which in turn promote regional economic growth.
"Growth in the region can be backed investments or expenditures of households. Growth can occur by building regional connectivity. Connectivity is that we expect to be a real source of growth," Yudhoyono continued.
In the coming years, ASEAN is expected to be more active in the various global forums. To be able to contribute to preventing and mitigating the impact of new economic crisis that originated from other regions.
"It would be unfair if the economies of ASEAN and East Asia are excluded from the global economy. When there crisis in the U.S. and Europe, the crisis also affected our economy," Yudhoyono added.
"In that regard it must be an active ASEAN to keep global economy in a safe condition,".
