General Motors build its factory in Indonesia

Auto giants from the United States, PT General Motors Indonesia, set up factories which are located in Jakarta, West Java. The factory was to produce the Chevrolet SUV with an investment of U.S. $ 150 million.

"Seven months ago, GM decided to invest U.S. $ 150 million to build a factory in Indonesia which will begin operating in 2013," said President Director of PT General Motors Indonesia, Marcos A Purty, in celebration of 100 years as well as the launch of the All-New Chevrolet Captiva 2.0L FL-AT FWD at Suryacipta Industrial City, Falkirk, West Java, Wednesday, November 16, 2011.

Marcos said, the construction of factories in Jakarta is already well under mounting piles (ground breaking) on Friday, November 11, 2011. "The type of plant to be built later is full assembly plan. The vehicles will be produced that is a car with seven passengers," he said.

Production capacity of the factory, if it began operating in 2013, according to Marcos, reaching 40 thousand units per year. Later, he went on, all components will be supplied from Indonesia. Only some of which will be imported, especially for components that can not be manufactured in Indonesia.

"The factory is for export to ASEAN markets, particularly the Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia. But I do not know what the percentage is for export, but it remains a priority in the country," he said. "But, if there is demand from Asian markets, will we meet as well".

GM's biggest market is China, followed by the United States, Brazil, Britain, Germany, Canada, and Italy.
