About 350 police officers surrounded the forest in the University of Indonesia (UI), Depok, West Java, Monday, November 14, 2011. The goal is to find a hidden firearm by a terrorist network of Abu Omar in the forest area of 320 square meters.

"We are pursuing several weapons allegedly placed in an area in Depok," said the head of the Police Public Relations Division of Public Information, Comr Boy Rafli Amar, at Police Headquarters, Jakarta.

This operation is performed after the Detachment 88 Anti-Terror obtain information from terrorist suspects who were arrested in different places at the weekend.

At least four suspects were arrested on Saturday. They are DAP (34) years, private employment, address Cipondoh, Tangerang. BH aka D (35) private employment address in Karawaci Tangerang. Then developed for tracking in Depok that informed there concealed firearms in Depok," said Chief of Police Public Relations Division , Inspector General of Police Saud Usman Nasution.

Proximity storage of weapons with the university raises the question: is there a connection UI elements in this network?

Responding to that, the UI criminologist, Adrianus Meliala said information from the apparatus, this location is not only to hide the weapon, but also used for practice. "For those who are said to be a radical group," he said at Police Headquarters.

Radical groups, he added, could have a weapon anywhere, including in the woods UI. "I think a reasonable thing. The problem of which they know that the UI is safe," he said.

He added, in addition to the weapon police also have to trace the alleged involvement of the UI elements in this network. "It could be something to do with the information provided by UI students themselves who may have a radical understanding also, that there is safe. There can be used and so on."

Adrianus added, not all students at the UI's pluralist, moderate, and democratic. "But there are circles we say as more fundamental in terms of pemahamanan, Lest they who have links with the group, then give such directions and watch if for example there are officers who come," he said.

Informers, said Adrianus, also needs to be processed. Not only those who have weapons and train there.

How forests can be used as a hiding place for weapons UI? "Like many people who use the forest UI, there is a group cycling, there is a bite to eat there. It's normal. There is also a possibility in this case they were disguised or camper and so on, then abuse it," he said

PR UI, Devie Rahmawati, as confirmed claimed not to know the information the involvement of students in this network. "If we did not get the info, so far nothing," she said.
